Abstract

The study aimed to examine the impact of organizational power, with its five dimensions (legitimate power, reward power, coercive power, expert power, and referent power), on enhancing organizational commitment from the perspective of senior management at Al-Quds Open University in the Gaza Strip. To achieve the study objectives, the researchers employed the descriptive-analytical approach and used a questionnaire as the primary data collection instrument. A comprehensive survey method was also adopted. A total of (50) questionnaires were distributed, of which (46) were returned, yielding a response rate of (92%). The findings revealed that both organizational power and organizational commitment were at high levels. The results also indicated a statistically significant correlation and impact between organizational power, in its various dimensions, and organizational commitment. Furthermore, no statistically significant differences were found in respondents’ perceptions of organizational power and organizational commitment attributable to gender, age, educational qualification, job title, or years of service. The study recommended strengthening organizational power among employees of Al-Quds Open University in the Gaza Strip and creating an appropriate organizational climate that contributes to enhancing their level of organizational commitment.
