The impact of using differentiated instruction through choice boards on enhancing self-assessment skills among seventh-grade female students in mathematicsAbstract:This study aimed to investigate the effect of differentiated instruction on enhancing students’ self-assessment skills through the implementation of an instructional strategy based on differentiated instruction. The study population consisted of 40 female students enrolled in one seventh-grade class at a school in the northern Gaza Strip. A purposive sample of eight students was selected and equally distributed across four achievement levels: low, good, very good, and excellent. An observation checklist was used as the research instrument to achieve the study objective. The findings revealed a noticeable improvement in the targeted self-assessment skills measured by the observation checklist, confirming the effectiveness of differentiated instruction in enhancing students’ self-assessment abilities. The results also indicated an increased level of responsibility for learning among the participants. Based on the findings, the researcher recommends reconsidering and redesigning school curricula in accordance with the differentiated instruction approach, promoting the value of self-assessment and students’ active role in the learning process, and emphasizing the development of self-regulation and critical thinking skills.
